The History of Kia

Kia Motors was founded in 1944. It was the first motor vehicle company to be founded in South Korea. They now own 13 manufacturing plants based in eight different countries which produce more than a million vehicles per year.

One of the lucky countries proud enough to have a Kia manufacturing plant is, in fact, the United States of America. It is located in the beautiful West Point. It is called the Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia and has been up and running since 2009. Currently they produce the Sorento and the Optima. A manufacturing plant is not the only thing that the United States has to offer Kia, however. For the past fourteen years, Kia Motors America has recorded increased United States market share on a year to year basis. They also sponsor many American based companies, organizations, and residents such as, but not limited to, the National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, Atlanta Falcons, Blake Griffin, and X-Men. They also have manufacturing plants throughout Europe and in Mexico through which they are very involved. Lastly, they have a Defense program as well.

It goes without saying that Kia remains involved in the countries with which they do business and it is obvious that that business mentality is taking them far. Kia is thriving in the American auto-industry simply because they care (and create reliable, efficient and safe vehicles as well).

2016 Kia Optima

When you know you have a great thing, you can’t wait to show the world.  That must have been the logic behind Kia deciding not to wait until the 2015 New York Auto Show to give us a sneak peek behind the curtain and show us the 2016 Kia Optima.

There appears to be subtle changes to the front of the latest offering as the shape of the headlights and other features have been slightly offered.  They did keep the bold tiger nose grille which is one of my favorite designs.  Along with the vertical fog lights make the front menacing to say the least.  They also have LED taillights with an integrated diffuser and a pair of heavy duty oval exhausts to round out the back.

Under the hood, Kia will continue to offer a standard, naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder, as well as an optional 2.0-liter, turbo charged four-cylinder. Power for the engine will be 185 hp and 178 lb-ft, and the 2.0T will be 247 hp and 260 lb.-ft. Both engines have been retuned for fuel economy.  The car company will also offer a 1.6 liter turbocharged four cylinder accompanied with the company’s first seven speed dual clutch transmission.  This produced 178 hp and 19g lb. ft. of torque.  Kia continues to improve upon an already great product.  I can’t wait to sit behind the wheel of this one.

Huffines Kia Denton Offers the Most Affordable Sedan

One of the most popular vehicle segments in America is the midsize sedan.  It serves as a family car, daily commuter, road trip vehicle, and more.  It is perfect for just about anything the average car buyer needs, plenty of passenger room, cargo storage, and easy on the gas tanks.

Now because of the popularity of the midsize sedan, there’s no shortage of options for consumers to choose from.  What is the best vehicle for your money?  Recently cars.com conducted a test and their analysis determined what the most affordable midsize sedan was.  For us at Huffines Kia Denton, the results were not surprising.
The Kia Optima is one of Kia’s bestselling vehicles and for good reason.  The test conducted by cars.com analyzed cars with a certain level of content that most car shoppers desire.  All vehicles tested were of trim levels that included automatic transmissions, cruise control, USB, Bluetooth, Power windows and driver’s seat, and a backup camera.

Most midsize car shoppers are choosing cars with at least the equipment listed above.  Also included in the test for affordability was the cost of 5 years of gas at the current price and driving ration provided by the EPA.

Not only was the Kia Optima the most affordable car on the list, it was a full $645 less expensive than the second place car.  You’ll also notice the Kia Optima Hybrid was pretty high on the affordability list, as a matter of fact, it was more affordable after 5 years than 7 non-hybrid vehicles on the list.

That’s a lot of value in Kia’s favor.  And if you want even more value you should get your Optima from Huffines Kia Denton.  Visit our showroom 5150 S Interstate 35 E or give us a call at 940-321-2504 today!
